This month I have been brainstorming ways to make practice and review in our lessons just a bit more fun. So I had a thought--how about turning some of these activities into a game using dice?
Today I am sharing a fun "roll the dice" worksheet that helps students to review intervals and draw them on the staff. Use the dice from your favorite board game, or search "google dice" and use a virtual set of dice to complete this worksheet!
Looking for more creative ways to use dice in your lesson? Here are a few more ideas we have been using in our lessons this month:
- Review scales by rolling the dice and having students name and play the scale with that number of sharps or flats.
- Use dice for practice by having students roll the dice and play a tricky passage from their piece that number of times.
- Create a musical scavenger hunt by having students roll the dice and then search for that number of a certain symbol or note in their book (for example: find 5 sharp signs, find 3 root position chords, etc.).
What do you think? Do you have any creative ways you use dice in your lessons? I would love to hear your ideas in the comments!
