I am thankful that music has taught me...
Learning to identify problems and come up with solutions in my own piano practicing has definitely helped me to become a better problem solver and critical thinker in my everyday life.
2. Persistence
Practicing consistently and seeing slow but steady progress on those trickiest pieces of music definitely taught me the value of being persistent!
3. Teamwork
I am thankful to have had the opportunity to make music with friends in a variety of settings--from playing duets, to performing chamber works, to playing with an orchestra. Many happy memories have been made over the years when making music with others!
4. Time Management
There's nothing like preparing for a public performance to teach you the value of time management. I am grateful that being a musician has taught me how to set goals and plan my time accordingly to make them happen.
5. Creativity
Music and creativity have always gone hand in hand for me. I am very thankful to have the opportunity to create music each and every day, and even more thankful to know that pianists of all ages have enjoyed playing my music.
6. Self-Expression
Music has been a source of comfort and a means of self-expression to me for so many years--I truly can't imagine my life without it!
And a very special thank you to...YOU! I truly appreciate each and every one of you who have taken the time to read my blog or to play my music. I am thankful every day to have the opportunity to connect with such a wonderful community of teachers and musicians from all over the world.
Are you thankful for music? What lessons have you learned from being a musician? I would love to hear from you in the comments!
Wishing all who are celebrating this week a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!
