Curated for You: My 10 Favorite Christmas Arrangements!

I'm often asked to name my favorite composition or arrangement. As any composer can tell you, this is such a difficult question to answer--even harder than picking my favorite flavor of ice cream!

However, today I did the hard work of choosing 10 of my very favorite Christmas arrangements to share with you. From pop favorites, to unique medleys, to jazzed-up classics--these are 10 arrangements that I still reach for when I want something to play for my own enjoyment. I hope you will enjoy listening to these arrangements as much as I enjoyed creating them!

Keep reading to see and hear them all...

In no particular order, here are 10 of my favorite Christmas arrangements:

1. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
Some Christmas songs are so iconic that they are intimidating to arrange--and this was one of those for me. However, I feel like I was able to create a version that stayed true to the original but provided enough special moments to make it a performance-worthy option.

See the sheet music HERE.

2. A Charlie Brown Christmas Medley
Some holiday songs just make you happy! I had lots of fun combining several beloved pieces by Vince Guaraldi into one special medley. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

See the sheet music HERE.

3. I'll Be Home for Christmas
This nostalgic Christmas song never fails to make me cry. I tried to channel that emotion into this lyrical arrangement, and I think I succeeded. (Let me know in the comments if you agree!)

See the sheet music HERE.

4. The Twelve Days of Christmas
If the mere mention of the title above makes you cringe, you are not alone! However, I got a kick out of arranging this special version that I think performers and audiences alike will enjoy.

See the sheet music HERE. This piece is also part of this collection.

5. The Ukrainian Bell Carol
There are thousands of arrangements of this famous carol, but I think this arrangement (that includes a nod to Rachmaninoff) is something special!

See the sheet music HERE. This piece is also part of this collection.

6. Away in a Manger
I love the works of Erik Satie, so I had to find a way to make his famous "Gymnopedie No. 1" work for Christmas. Turns out that it dovetails perfectly with the beloved carol "Away in a Manger."

See the sheet music HERE. This piece is also part of this collection.

7. Rompin' Reindeer
This is my attempt to elevate the classic children's song "Up on the Housetop" into something a bit more sophisticated. I'm really pleased with how this jazzy version turned out, and if you listen closely you might hear a hint of Gershwin in there!

See the sheet music HERE. This piece is also part of this collection.

8. Into the Light
"O Come, O Come Emmanuel" is another favorite carol of mine, and this was my attempt to give this traditional song a more contemporary feel. I am happy with how it came together!

See the sheet music HERE. This piece is also part of this collection.

9. Sugar Plum Blues
I was excited to discover how nicely this classical holiday favorite meshed with elements of jazz and blues music. The result: a fresh-sounding arrangement that is both fun to play and a bit quirky!

See the sheet music HERE. This piece is part of this collection.

10. Silent Night
This is another iconic carol that I put off arranging for quite a while. However, this contemporary spin on the classic Christmas song quickly became a favorite arrangement of mine. I hope you enjoy it, too!

See the sheet music HERE. This piece is part of this collection.

What do you think? Did any of your favorite Christmas songs make this list? Leave me a comment and let me know!

P.S. You can find my whole Christmas music catalog HERE if you want to discover your own favorite arrangements! Thank you for listening!

Hi! Looking for an arrangement of Merry Christmas by Ed Sheeran and Elton John. It’s for a student working in intermediate level piano. Do you have one or know of one? I use your arrangements often, appreciate your work. TIA

Hi May! I have not done an arrangement of that song, but Jennifer Eklund has a version here that I bet would work for your student: https://www.musicnotes.com/sheetmusic/mtd.asp?ppn=MN0246898

I hope that helps! I'm happy to hear that you've been enjoying my arrangements--thank you!
