1. Help students set their own goals for the new year.
This handy printable combines two of my favorite "first lesson of the year" activities: reviewing repertoire and setting goals for the new year.
This sheet gives your students a place to list their favorite pieces from the previous semester, as well as to brainstorm a "wish list" of new pieces and/or musical goals that they have for their lessons for the coming months.
